The Clue In The Diary
Redefine, redesign and reimagine. Special edition books are masterpieces of the original design. It becomes a mantle piece and a collectable that consumers value.

The original book cover and spread have not widely been changed since the original publishing. For this reason the design needed to speak to the age we are currently in. There are numerous fine details maintained through the original series and the design needed to pay homage to it.For the cover art I went with a more modern design, one that takes inspiration from the series “The Twilight Saga”. As the front image focuses on the main detail of the book. In this case I used the key that would be used to unlock the mystery of the book. The gold trim was inspired by the idea of an upscale anniversary edition.
When we look at the back cover I wanted to incorporate the idea that there are other books in the series. At the bottom I added other book covers to showcase that effect. On the inside spreads I changed the original font to a more readable and easier on the eyes font. Each chapter beginning uses a border element to tie together the front and back covers with the rest of the book. I also used a repeating element of the magnifying glass on the chapter pages, reinforcing the ine details as per the original. For the overall look of the book I went with a dark mystery look that would entice a more mature audience.
